The Province of Arvandus is one of the smaller territories of Western Glashia, bordered by the Kienken and Fillian Mountains to the south and the Inner Sea to the north, and brushing up against the outskirts of the Tempec Forest and Jahhne to the east and taking up the small, northern portion of the Kienken Forest to the west. A small grouping if islands located to the north of Arvandus and in between the Inner and North Seas are also claimed under the jurisdiction of the Province, as are the five Inner Isles, also claimed by the Kingdom of Jordyen. The dispute between Arvandus and Jordyen has lasted nearly fifty years, with King Tearsac of the Plains of Arvandus claiming all rights to the Isles, as well as the trading and shipping routes through the Inner Sea, while King Rhyus Gatau "The Lion" holds true to the traditions of Jordyen, which state that the Isles are property of the Kingdom of Jordyen and have been for hundreds of years. Occasional sea battles and small land skirmishes have occurred between the armies and navies of the two rivaling nations, although full-scale war doesn't seem likely in the near future.

The ruler of the Province of Arvandus is King Tearsac of the Plains, a fpathen mage who had a falling out with the Council of Twelve of Jahhne over sixty years back. He was vanquished from the Tempec Forest and the nation of Jahhne, never allowed to return to his fpathen homeland. He traveled west into the Province of Arvandus, where he found refuge in a small fpathen school of magic in Port Dynard, the capital city of the Province of Jordyen. Tearsac was able to land a high-ranking position within the school, for he possessed powerful magical skills. Soon he was the Master of the school, which lead to a position as Secondary Advisor to the King, and that to Senior Advisor to the King.

Lord Mickel Hemminforth, then King of the Province of Arvandus, grew fond of Tearsac quickly, which turned out to be his downfall, for deep within the noble and loyal exterior of Tearsac was a burning evil waiting to be released. In less than two years as Senior Advisor to the King, Tearsac of the Plains had Lord Mickel Hemminforth assassinated and claimed the throne of the Province of Arvandus as his own. His cut-throat actions, along with the magics he possessed, allowed him to ascend to the throne without any interference. And for more than sixty years, Tearsac of the Plains has ruled over the Province of Arvandus with a swift and just neutrality that has left many of the rulers of other nations wondering where Tearsac's loyalties lay: with the country of Western Glashia, or with the Province of Arvandus?

Although Arvandus' lumber industry is small, having to import much of it's needed lumber for the nation's shipbuilding industry, the Province holds title to an abundance of gold, silver, and copper mines, as well as those that produce fine gems that are later cut within Port Dynard. And because it's location puts Arvandus directly between the Inner Sea and the Kingdom of Jordyen and the western and southern portions of Western Glashia, trade and commerce is more prosperous in the Province of Arvandus than anywhere else in Western Glashia, save Cannovan.

Despite the fact that the armies of Port Dynard and the Province of Arvandus are small, the nations navy and fleet of warships surpasses those of the Kingdom of Jordyen. It is said that even the smallest of coastal villages of Arvandus has a handful of warships docked there, from the single- and dual-leveled rowing vessels to the sleek sailing ships. And because piracy is a common occurrence in the waters surrounding Western Glashia, even the well-built trading ships of Arvandus are equipped with a score of archers and several catapults.
